Voice recorders are a handy way of making notes. The ‘Living Made Easy’ website showcases a variety of recorders, ranging from simple, low-cost devices to more expensive, multi-functional gadgets.

Using your smartphone

Smartphone apps such as Voice memos on Apple iOS devices can transform your smartphone or tablet into a dicta-phone.
There are also plenty of accessible note-taking apps. Google Keep is available across Apple iOS and Google Android devices and contains text and voice recording features. The Apple Notes app is available on their phones, tablets and computers. Many other professional note-taking apps such as Drafts provide more advanced formatting and organising features while some including ClaroSpeak can convert text into audio.

Some apps such as Trint and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech can automatically transcribe spoken word audio into text, while other platforms such as d2u Transcriber rely on human operators.
